There is a mind body connection. Yoga helps to regulate your heart rate while at the same time increasing your flexibility and overall well being. There are meditative properties associated with yoga as well. You will gain a good degree of control over muscles that you thought you could not control, your breathing will improve as will your posture.

Meditation

There is something to be said for shutting off the lights and sitting in a solitary, quiet and comfortable place for some meditative thinking or clearing of the mind. Stress, it has been said, is the number one cause

Now, let me be clear – you don’t necessarily have to incorporate ALL OF THE ABOVE every time you work out. However, incorporating all of the above and sprinkling them in from week to week will take advantage of all of their benefits and will endow you with more endurance, flexibility, strength and muscle tone.
